Colheita

Porto DOC

Portugal - Douro

A Colheita Port is a tawny Port, that is to say a port that has been aged only in oak barrels or in large casks, which has undergone oxidation over the years which have made its color tawny (Tawny) and which have developed "rancio" aromas of the dried fruit type (fig, apricot and walnut ...) but also spicy notes. But the particularity of a colheita is that it only comes from a single vintage. This makes it rare. The vintage and the year of bottling are indicated on the bottle. A colheita must have spent at least 7 years in wood. Once bottled, colheitas are ready to consume immediately but can be bottled for decades.

At Andresen, colheitas are only declared when the harvest is truly exceptional.
