Ketill Flatnöse was the nickname given to a legendary Scottish warrior, who according to Viking mythology ruled the Isle of Islay in the 9th century. It is to him that Donald MacKenzie and MacKay Smith (the "Islay Boys") decided to pay tribute, by naming the brand of whiskey they founded a few years ago with his name.

With the launch of Flatnöse Rum Barrel Finish, Donald MacKenzie and Mackay Smith are expanding their collection. It is also a homecoming as their very first bottling was also a blended malt scotch.

Their latest creation nevertheless stands out with its aging: as its name suggests, it has indeed benefited from a finish in barrels that previously contained rum. What offer him a certain gluttony.

The dress is golden in color. The nose is lively and clean. The aromas of vanilla and exotic fruits give all its singularity to this Blended Malt. The more classic smoky and peaty notes balance the whole. The mouth is frank, it favors flavors of peat, honey, and spices such as pepper. We let ourselves be carried away by this finish which ends with a hint of vanilla.
