Peyre Rose Marlène N°3

Peyre Rose

It is perhaps the finest tannin of the three vintages in the vintage, without the graphite power of Syrah-Léone, without the strength of taste of Clos des Cistes but with a more polite, more integrated finish.
What a debate of aesthetes between great wine lovers!

Peyre Rose

Marlène N°3

Coteaux du Languedoc AOP

France - Languedoc

peyregrande-bio

Marlène Soria's work is unique in the Languedoc.

Her wines are inseparable from the will and charisma of their creator. Mysterious, magical, sometimes inexplicable, they impose a stylistic unity and a capacity to age, especially the whites, true UFOs for the region. The Oro cuvée, made from rolle, roussanne and viognier, aged for almost ten years in vats and bottles, and which has been produced on the heights of Saint-Pargoire since the early 1990s, is as limited as it is coveted. The reds, on the other hand, are quite tightly woven, even hard. Dominated by a solar syrah from very low yields, they are aged for a long time in the cellar in order to civilise their tannins (a minimum of two years in vats, doubled by the same amount of time in the bottle).

Old vintages are a must!

This cuvée is made from an ingenious blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache. This vintage is the earliest, bewitched by this sunny climate, on hard to friable limestone soils.

Tasting notes:

Notes of fresh liquorice, thyme and menthol give a new and welcome camphor dimension. Straightforward, balanced and taut on the palate, with a tight and very long texture. Great length and great potential.
This is perhaps the finest tannin of the three vintages in the vintage, without the graphite power of Syrah-Léone, without the strength of taste of Clos des Cistes, but with a more polite, more integrated finish. What a debate of aesthetes among great amateurs it will provoke!
