Château Musar

Gaston Hochar 2014

Vallée de la Bekaa

Liban - Vallée de la Bekaa

Château Musar is located in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, at an altitude of between 1000 and 1200 metres. It was created by Gaston Hochar in 1930 -when he was only 20 years old- who was inspired by the 6,000 year old wine tradition of Lebanon and his travels in Bordeaux.
Serge Hochar, his son, graduated in oenology from the Bordeaux school and started producing wines in the late 1950s. His brother, Ronald, joined him in the early 1960s.
Château Musar was the first producer in Lebanon to be awarded the organic label in the country. Today, 85% of the production is sold for export.

A rare wine, Château Musar is characterised by its complexity and fullness and is the result of a slow maturation of 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels. It is blended in its third year and marketed only in its seventh year, during which time the wine will have gained in maturity and complexity.
