Viña Meín - Emilio Rojo

Eiras Altas 2016

Ribeiro DO

Espagne - Galice

One of the most interesting and innovative projects created in Ribeiro by Javier Alen.
The vineyards stretch along both banks of the Avia valley, where Viña Meín is one of the first establishments at the epicentre of Ribeiro winegrowing and where the lands of Emilio Rojo continue the excellent work of this visionary winegrower.

As is traditional in Ribeiro, the plantations are a mixture of grape varieties, with a special emphasis on white grape varieties, particularly Treixadura. All of them are cultivated with care, respecting the biodiversity of their environment. As for the elaboration of the wines, the philosophy of the estate is based on minimal intervention in order to respect the character of the terroir as much as possible.

Viña Meín Eiras Altas: Vines on granite sand soils. Partial de-stemming and cold maceration before fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 500 and 600 litre tuns and used barrels. Aged for 9 months on the lees in used French oak barrels.

Although it is easy and tempting to compare this wine to wines from Burgundy (in particular Chablis Grand Cru), we would like to note that this is an original wine.
