Spätlese 2015 - Saar Dry Gin
Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin is produced in the Saar, a German region located in the Land of Rhineland-Palatinate, not far from the French Moselle.
Ferdinand Geltz, Royal Superintendent of the Prussian Forest and the historical figure who laid the foundations for what would become one of the largest family estates in the Saar and Moselle. He was also the co-founder of the VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine appellation.
In 1925, after his death, the vineyards were shared between his two daughters, Ella and Antoinette. Today, it is thanks to the determination of Marianne, her granddaughter and daughter of Ella, that the estate still exists under the name Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken and is managed by Dorothée, 11th generation.
This gin is made from a refined selection of noble plants: juniper, lemon thyme, sloe, rosehip, quince, rubinette apple, to name a few!
Handpicked, these ingredients are then combined with a quality wine: a late harvest (spätlese) of riesling.
Carefully hand-picked, the Riesling grapes sourced from the shale slopes of the Ferdinand Geltz estate make this gin a unique taste experience. The know-how of the master distiller Andreas Vallendar, thirty ingredients taken from their vines and their cultures guarantee a high quality product that promises you a tasting of supreme pleasure.
Proof of its international success, Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin won the double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
